Kliuch, Malygina knock off ITA-ranked opponents, advance in ITA All-American Championships qualifying draw

CARY, N.C. – Veronika Kliuch and Arina Malygina of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team earned spots in the final round of the qualifying draw at the ITA All-American Championships in Cary, North Carolina, on Monday.
Malygina powered her way through 17th-seeded Emma Ghirardato of Maryland, 7-6 (2), 6-0, to move within one win of the main draw. The victory marks the freshman's first win over an ITA-ranked opponent, as Ghirardato came in at No. 96 in ITA's preseason rankings.
In her Cowgirl debut, Veronika Kliuch defeated eighth-seeded Hannah Read of San Diego, 7-6 (3), 6-4, advancing to the final round of qualifying. Kliuch entered the tournament ranked No. 124 in the ITA rankings, 50 spots behind No. 74 Read.
The win marked Malygina's fourth win in three days, and she will look to make it five against 12th-seeded and 80th-ranked Linea Bajraliu of Georgia tomorrow at 8 a.m. CT.
Veronika Kliuch will face 17th-seeded and 116th-ranked Olivia Traynor of Michigan tomorrow at 10 a.m. CT.
