Oklahoma State’s Eberle a Finalist for Softball Player of the Year

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State pitcher Carrie Eberle is one of 25 finalists for USA Softball's Player of the Year award, it was announced today.
Created in 2002, the award is considered the most prestigious honor in Division I women's collegiate softball. It recognizes the outstanding athletic achievement by Division I female players across the country.
Eberle is 16-1 this season with an 0.81 earned run average, which is sixth in the nation among qualified pitchers. The North Carolina native has been named Big 12 pitcher of the week twice this season and has thrown six complete-game shutouts, including her second career no-hitter against Omaha on March 5 in Cowgirl Stadium.
The list of 25 finalists will be narrowed to 10 on May 5 before the top three are announced on May 19. The 2021 USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Year will be revealed prior to the 2021 NCAA Women's College World Series, which is set for June 3-9 at the USA Softball Hall of Fame Complex in Oklahoma City.
Previous winners of the award include Cat Osterman (2003, 2005 and 2006), Monica Abbott (2007), Keilani Ricketts (2012 and 2013), Sierra Romero (2016) and most recently, Rachel Garcia (2018 and 2019).
