Final Results
PHOENIX – Oklahoma State's men's golf team closed the Thunderbird Collegiate on Saturday with a final round of 281 to slip into third place at Papago Golf Course.
The Cowboys, who had won their previous two events, entered the day in second place and four shots behind tournament champion TCU at the par-71, 7,319-yard layout. The Horned Frogs finished at 34-under 818. Tournament host Arizona State used an 11-under 273 to move into second place at 822. OSU posted a 54-hole total of 29-under 823.
A trio of players shared medalist honors with New Mexico's Albert Boneta, Texas Tech's Ludvig Aberg and Utah's Blake Tomlinson all posting 12-under totals of 201.
OSU's Austin Eckroat was a shot off the pace of the leaders, finishing at 202 after closing with his second consecutive 67. The junior put together a bogey-free closing round to move up four spots on the leaderboard. Eckroat opened with a birdie at the first before tacking on another at the fourth. He would close his outward nine with birdies at the seventh and ninth to turn in 4-under 32.
Eckroat would close his day with nine consecutive pars to come in with an even-par 35 on his second nine.
Sophomore Eugenio Chacarra closed with a 73 to finish in a tie for 16th place at 207.
Sophomore Aman Gupta's second 73 in a row knotted him for 23rd place at 209. He was joined at 4-under by freshman Bo Jin, who closed with a 72.
Freshman Jonas Baumgartner rounded out the starting five, tying for 35th place at 211 after posting a 69 during his third round.
A trio of Cowboys competed individually with freshman Brian Stark leading the way at 207 after posting a 71 to tie for 16th place. Sophomore Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen closed with a 72 to finish at 209 and tied for 23rd place, while freshman Hazen Newman's 72 tied him for 47th place at 214.
