John Wild Captures OGA Stroke Play Title
June 24, 2026 | Cowboy Golf
SHAWNEE, Okla. – Oklahoma State's John Wild delivered in the clutch on the final hole at the 44th Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship at Shawnee Country Club to become the most recent Cowboy to win the event.
Wild reached the 36th hole, a par 5, in two and rolled in a 7-foot eagle putt to become OSU's first OGA stroke play champion since Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen in 2020. The Cowboys now have crowned seven champions since the event was first contested in 1983. In addition to Wild and Neergaard-Petersen, Hayden Wood (2013), Talor Gooch (2012), Trent Whitekiller (2007, 2008) and Kevin Whipple (1985) all won the event.
With his closing eagle, Wild posted a 68 for a 7-under-par tally of 135, putting him two shots clear of the field.
Originally scheduled as a 54-hole championship, severe weather and heavy rainfall throughout the area reduced the event to 36 holes.
Incoming OSU freshman Ben Lathrop carded rounds of 69 and 68 to finish at 5-under 137 and in a three-way tie for second place. Current Cowboy Collin Bond tied for 37th place with his 147 total.
