Cowboys Put Win Streak On The Line In Arizona
April 14, 2021 | Cowboy Golf
PHOENIX – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will be seeking its third consecutive victory this weekend when it takes part in the 48th Thunderbird Collegiate at Papago Golf Course.
The third-ranked Cowboys enter play having won their last two outings, the N.I.T. in Tucson last month and the Haskins Award Invitational in Augusta to start April. OSU will be one of 16 teams in action at the par-70, 7,319-yard layout this week. The event will consist of 36 holes on Friday and 18 on Saturday.
Anders Hultman is the most recent OSU medalist at the event, taking top honors in 2001. He is joined by Michael Bradley (1988), Willie Wood (1983) and Lindy Miller (1977) as Cowboys to win the individual title.
OSU won the team title in 1988, 1983, 1977 and 1974.
Head coach Alan Bratton's squad will feature a starting five of junior Austin Eckroat, sophomores Eugenio Chacarra and Aman Gupta as well as freshmen Bo Jin and Jonas Baumgartner.
Three Cowboys will compete individually with Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen, Hazen Newman and Brian Stark all making the trip as well.
OSU's most recent start saw the Pokes erase a nine-shot deficit during the final round en route to a two-shot victory at the Augusta Haskins Award Invitational. Chacarra, Gupta and Baumgartner all earned top-10 finishes in the process.
