Spring Preview: Running Backs
March 29, 2021 | Cowboy Football
It's not easy to replace a running back whose career accolades include leading the nation in rushing and finishing eighth in the voting for the Heisman Trophy, but that's what the Cowboys have begun the process of doing with the departure of Chuba Hubbard.
As big of a task as that may sound, OSU has already began it as Hubbard battled through injuries in 2020 and ultimately didn't finish the season. In his absence though, Cowboy fans got a glimpse of what looks to be a bright future as three players all proved they belonged:
LD Brown is a senior who returns for an extra year after showing off several long highlight-reel plays over the course of his career as a backup thus far. Dezmon Jackson is a JUCO product who had the chance to show what he's capable of in three 2020 starts, including a 235-yard, three-touchdown day in his starting debut against Texas Tech. Dominic Richardson played his most meaningful time at Baylor, posting the second-highest rushing total for a true freshman in school history with 169 yards. Expect all three to see playing time in 2021.
Additionally, senior Jaylen Warren arrives after transferring from a productive stay at Utah State, and walk-on Andre Washington returns as well.
