Cowgirls Drop Conference Opener

AUSTIN, Texas - Oklahoma State women's tennis team opened the conference portion of its season with a 6-1 loss at the hands of No. 2 Texas on Friday.
With the loss, the Cowgirls fell to 6-6 on the year, while the Longhorns improved to 13-1.
After today's match against the Longhorns, OSU has played six ranked opponents this season, five of which are ranked in the top eight in the nation with a matchup at No. 11 Baylor up next on Sunday.
Despite the Cowgirls battling in doubles, Texas would go on to claim the doubles point. OSU's Ayumi Miyamoto and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat were defeated by Lulu Sun and Kylie Collins, 6-3. Dariya Detkovskaya and Daniella Medvedeva fell to Peyton Stearns and Charlotte Chavatipon, 6-3, as well and Alana Wolfberg and Lenka Stara were deadlocked with Fernanda Labrana and Anna Turati of Texas at 4-4 when their match was called.
After battling back to tie up the second set on court five, Lenka Stara fell to Longhorn Kylie Collins, 6-1, 7-5, to send the first singles point of the day in favor of Texas. Bunyawi Thamchaiwat moved to 6-0 on the season and got the Cowgirls on the board with her straight-set victory over Peyton Stearns, 6-4, 6-2.
Ayumi Miyamoto was defeated by Lulu Sun, 7-5, 6-2. Daniella Medvedeva fought to take her match to a third set before falling to Texas' Fernanda Labrana, 6-1, 2-6, 4-6 to give the Longhorns a 4-1 lead. Another Cowgirl would battle for three sets before ultimately coming up just short as Charlotte Chavatipon of Texas defeated Dariya Detkovskaya, 3-6, 6-2, 6-2. Alana Wolfberg also took No. 5 Anna Turati to three sets before losing, 6-0, 4-6, 6-0.
