THE BASICS
After a rare season overlap at the conclusion of the indoor track and field and cross country seasons, Oklahoma State will shift its full focus to the outdoor track and field season. After notable team finishes at the Big 12 Indoor Championship for both the Cowboys and the Cowgirls – who finished fourth and second, respectively – Oklahoma State has much to look forward to in the outdoor season.
At the grand finale of the indoor season, the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship, sophomore Ariadni Adamopoulou earned First-Team All-American honors in the pole vault with a 4.36m vault that earned her the fifth-place finish. The Cowgirls were also represented on the All-American First Team by the Cowgirl Distance Medley relay unit of Sivan Auerbach, Christina Ollison, Stpehanie Moss and Taylor Roe, who combined for the fourth-place finish in a time of 10:59.75. The time ranks third-all time in the Cowgirl record books.
Adamopoulou, the Cowgirl DMR and the rest of Oklahoma State track and field are eager to get back to work after a considerable pause in outdoor competition as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. With a renewed fervor and a loaded roster, the Oklahoma State's men's and women's teams are ready to go toe-to-toe with the best in the country and return to their spot among the nation's elite.
IN THE POLLS
The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association ranked the Cowgirls at No. 24 in the country and fourth in the Big 12 at the end of the indoor season, while the Cowboys closed out the season ranked fifth in the conference. The first official USTFCCCA outdoor track and field rankings will be released on March 23.
THE LAST TIME OUT
In Oklahoma State's last outdoor track and field competition, Aaliyah Birmingham and Garrett Calhoun took home individual titles in the women's 100 and the men's 1,500, respectively, at the Longhorn Invitational on March 6.
