Cowgirls Wrap Up Play at ITA Indoor National Championships

Stillwater, Okla. – Oklahoma State's 10th-ranked women's tennis team dropped its final match of the ITA Indoor National Championships, falling to No. 6 Georgia Tech, 4-3, at the Greenwood Tennis Center on Sunday morning.
For the first time all weekend, the Cowgirls entire starting doubles lineup was available. Alana Wolfberg and Daniella Medvedeva defeated Georgia Tech's Carol Lee and Monika Dedaj, 6-3, to get the Pokes off to a solid start.
Shortly afterward, Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Ayumi Miyamoto were defeated by the Yellowjacket duo of Kenya Jones and Victoria Flores, 3-6. Georgia Tech's Ruth Marsh and Gia Cohen held off Dariya Detkovskaya and Lenka Stara's comeback effort, posting a 6-4 victory, as the doubles point went the way of the Yellowjackets.
In singles play, Lora Boggs was defeated by Monika Dedaj, 6-1, 6-0, to give the Yellowjackets a 2-0 advantage in the match. Ayumi Miyamoto gained a lead and never looked back, defeating Georgia Tech's Gia Cohen, 6-4, 6-2 to get the Cowgirls on the board. Lenka Stara was victorious against Yellowjacket Mahak Jain, earning a 6-4, 6-2 victory to tie up the contest at 2-2.
With each team searching for two points from the three remaining courts, the Yellowjackets took a 3-2 lead with Victoria Flores defeating Alana Wolfberg, 6-2, 7-5. Bunyawi Thamchaiwat delivered the Cowgirls' third point after defeating Kenya Jones, 6-4, 6-3, to even the match at 3-3 with one court remaining.
After dropping the first set, 7-6, Daniella Medvedeva went down 3-0 in the second set. However, she battled her way back to 5-5 after holding off four match points, but fell short and was defeated by Rosie Garcia Gross, 7-6, 7-5, securing Georgia Tech's match-clinching point.
The Cowgirls are off until Saturday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. when Central Arkansas visits the Greenwood Tennis Center.
