December 10, 2021 | Cowboy Football
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State football program adds to its impressive list of graduates this weekend, as eight Cowboy players receive their diplomas in the Fall 2021 Commencement Ceremonies on December 10 and 11 at Gallagher-Iba Arena.
With 17 players on the 2021 roster who have already graduated prior to this semester, the addition of Jarrick Bernard-Converse, Alex Hale, Tyren Irby, Tanner McCalister, Malcolm Rodriguez, Gabe Simpson, Peyton Thompson and Hunter Woodard brings OSU's graduate total on this year's team to 25 players.
The total number of graduates in the Mike Gundy era now stands at 373, for an average of 22 graduates per year over his 17 seasons as head coach.
Those numbers continue to build on a pillar of academic success within the Oklahoma State football program.
In 2021 alone, 28 OSU players earned first-team Academic All-Big 12 honors and eight garnered second-team honors to combine for 36 total spots on the team. Also of note, Logan Carter became the first five-time academic all-conference team member in OSU history, as well as a two-time William V. Campbell Trophy semifinalist, and Woodard earned CoSIDA Academic All-District honors.
In the latest release of the Academic Progress Rate (APR), the Cowboy football program tied for the Big 12 lead with a multi-year score of 979, representing OSU's second-highest mark on record since the NCAA began tracking data in 2004-05 and trailing only the 982 multi-year score from the year prior.
