Gripp Named NCEA Standout Athlete of the Month
November 09, 2021 | Cowgirl Equestrian
WACO, Texas -Â Oklahoma State Equestrian rider Stephanie Gripp was named the October National Collegiate Equestrian Association Standout Athlete of the Month. She is the first Cowgirl this season to win a national award.
"Stephanie is the ultimate student-athlete and selflessly serves her team at the highest level," OSU Western assistant coach Laura Brainard said. "Her heart of gold and determination has helped the team, university and community reach new heights."
Along with competing for the Cowgirls this year, Gripp also serves as the OSU SAAC Vice President. She is instrumental in connecting student-athletes with athletic administration and being a voice for student-athletes across campus.Â
She is co-chair of the community service team for equestrian, which includes developing community service opportunities, devoting her time at community events and managing team hours.Â
Gripp serves as a student academic mentor for freshmen in the College of Agriculture, which involves student teaching and helping underclassmen navigate college in and out of the classroom.Â
Earlier in October she also presented research on political capital in rural Oklahoma at the Rural Renewal Symposium. Gripp maintains straight A's in the classroom as she pursues a degree in animal science.Â
Winners are selected by the NCEA Selection Committee, and Gripp is a first-time honoree.Â
