Sawangkaew/Miyamoto Advance To Finals At Big 12 Fall Invite

STILLWATER - Oklahoma State's women's tennis duo of Ayumi Miyamoto and Mhai Sawangkaew advanced to the championship match at the Big 12 Fall Invite at the Greenwood Series Tennis Center on Saturday.
The morning started with doubles, where Miyamoto and Sawangkaew moved on to the semifinals due to injury default. In the semfinal match, the OSU tandem dominated the Oklahoma duo of Alexandra Pisereva and Layne Sleeth, 8-3, to advance to tomorrow's championship.
Ayumi Miyamoto, Dariya Detkovskaya and Sofia Rojas all picked up victories in singles backdraws for the Cowgirls. Miyamoto took down West Virginia's Ting-Pei Chang, 6-0 3-6 [10-2]. Sofia Rojas beat Kansas' Tiffany Lagarde, 6-4, 7-6 (7-3), and Dariya Detkovskaya finished off the day for the Cowgirls with a 7-5, 6-4 win over Oklahoma's Marcelina Podlinska.
Sofia Rojas teamed up with Kansas' Mariana Mayoma-Velasquez in a consolation draw and defeated the West Virginia duo Anastasiia Bovolskaia and Ting-Pei Chang, 8-3.
Oona Orpana and Dariya Detkovskaya lost in the quarterfinal of the doubles main draw to
Avelina Sayfetdinova and Kailey Evans, 8-4. The duo moved to the main draw consolation doubles bracket where they bounced back and defeated Sonia Smagina and Tiffany Lagrde of Kansas, 8-5.
In the singles main draw semifinals Oona Orpana and Mhai Sawangkaew represented the Cowgirls. Orpana lost to Baylor's Alina Shcherbinina, 6-0, 6-2 and Sawangkaew fell to Kansas State's Rosanna Maffei, 7-6(4), 6-2.
