Cowboy Wrestling Ranked No. 7 in First NWCA Coaches Poll

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State wrestling team will open the 2021-22 season ranked No. 7 in the preseason NWCA Coaches Poll, which was announced Monday afternoon.
The Cowboys are coming off of a third-place finish at the NCAA Championships in March and return five All-Americans from that squad, including the reigning national champion at 197 pounds, AJ Ferrari. Along with Ferrari, national runner-up and Senior world medalist Daton Fix returns to the Cowboy lineup at 133 pounds.
Oklahoma State is one of six schools representing the Big 12 Conference in the first set of rankings. No. 3 Missouri is the conference's highest ranked team, followed by OSU, No. 14 Iowa State, No. 16 Oklahoma, No. 17 Northern Iowa and No. 20 Wyoming. The schedule for the Cowboys includes each of those teams, along with bouts against No. 1 Iowa, No. 11 Minnesota and No. 24 Lehigh.
The dual season for the Pokes begins on Nov. 13 when they wrestle Stanford at Maples Pavilion at 4 p.m. CT. The Cowboys will open the home slate on Nov. 28 against Drexel.
