Cowgirl Tennis Wraps Up Day Two In Norman

NORMAN, OKLA. — Four members of the Oklahoma State women's tennis team wrapped up day two at the Norman Open Series this afternoon.
The day started with Sofia Rojas dominating Erika Cheng in the final round of qualifying, 6-0, 6-1, to making her the fifth Cowgirl to appear in the main draw. Dariya Detkovskaya was defeated in another qualifying round final by Alexandra Pisareva, 6-3, 6-2.
In the first match of the day for OSU in the main draw, Martina Zerulo took care of business, defeating Meera Jesudason in commanding fashion, 6-0, 6-4. Next, Oona Orpana was defeated by Anabelle Xu, 6-0, 7-5.
In doubles play, Sofia Rojas teamed up with Akilah James. The duo was defeated by Alisha Reayer and Camila Romero, 6-1, 7-6.
Cowgirls Martina Zerulo and Oona Orpana took on Aristegui Mercedes and Helena Narmont. After dropping set one, Zerulo/Orpana bounced back and picked up a hard-fought victory, 5-7, 6-3, 10-7, to advance in the doubles main draw.
Four Cowgirls will be back in action tomorrow with matches not starting before 11 a.m.
