Oklahoma State Game Notes
• The Basics
Oklahoma State muscled-out its first Big 12 victory at No. 13 Texas Tech, and now has an opportunity to win back-to-back games against top-25 squads for the first time since 2015 when No. 9 West Virginia visits Stillwater in the year's first Big Monday showdown. The game can be seen on ESPN2 with Bob Wischusen and Fran Fraschilla on the call. Fans can listen to the game with Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb on the Cowboy Radio Network, which is also available through TuneIn Radio.
• Another Ranked Win
The Cowboys picked up their ninth victory over a ranked opponent under Mike Boynton on Saturday at No. 13 Texas Tech, and have the opportunity to snag the 10th on Monday night against No. 9 West Virginia. The last time OSU took down ranked opponents in back-to-back contests was in February of 2015 when they beat No. 25 Texas in Austin, No. 8 Kansas in GIA and No. 16 Baylor in Waco. In Boynton's first season, 2017-18, the Cowboys recorded a four-game winning streak against ranked opponents, but none of them were in consecutive games.
• Four Road Wins & Counting
OSU owns perhaps the nation's best road resume. Victories at No. 13 Texas Tech, Wichita State, Marquette and UT Arlington have given the Cowboys a 4-1 record away from Stillwater, which is tied for the second most road wins in the country and tops among power conference teams. Dating back to last season, OSU has won six of its last seven games away from home, with the lone loss coming at No. 8 Texas by three points.
• The Series with West Virginia
Oklahoma State has won four of the last seven meetings with West Virginia to cut into the Mountaineer lead in the series, which now stands at 9-8. In 2018-19, the Cowboys earned their first season sweep of the Mountaineers since 2013 and 2014, and coincidentally both games had the same final score, 85-77. WVU returned the favor with a season sweep in 2019-20. The two programs met only once prior to WVU's joining the Big 12 in 2012-13.
• Road Sweet Home
Since 2016-17, the road team in the series between OSU and WVU is 5-2. The Cowboys have won three of their last four games in WVU Coliseum. No other Big 12 team has won multiple games in Morgantown over the last four seasons and no other Big 12 team has an overall winning record in WVU Coliseum, where OSU is 5-3 all-time.
