MANHATTAN, Kan.— For the first time in 20 years, Oklahoma State's women's basketball won its second consecutive game in Manhattan, knocking off Kansas State, 69-55, in front of 283 fans inside Bramlage Coliseum on Monday night.
The Cowgirls last won consecutive road games in the series in 1999 and 2001.
Despite hitting three of their first 12 and just five of their 24 in the first quarter, the Cowgirls trailed by just three at 14-11 after the first 10 minutes.
OSU took its first lead at 16-14 after getting five consecutive points from freshman Neferatali Notoa off the bench. Fellow freshman Taylen Collins got a steal and bucket at the other end with five minutes left in the half to extend the margin to 25-20, forcing a K-State timeout.
Despite shooting just 30 in the half, including a 2-of-15 effort from deep, the Cowgirls took a 29-28 lead at the break.
To start the third, OSU came out sluggish again at the offensive end, hitting just one of its first 13 shots from the floor, allowing the Wildcats to reclaim the lead at 39-32. The Cowgirls answered with a 7-0 run to knot the score again. The two teams would enter the final period tied at 44.
After the Cowgirls took a three-point lead, K-State answered with a 6-0 run before junior Ja'Mee Asberry tied the score again with a 3-pointer at the 6:30 mark. The two teams traded the lead with Asberry answering a K-State trey with her third of the quarter with 4:31 remaining to put OSU back in front and spur a 15-0 run that would push the lead to 69-55.
Asberry finished with a game-high 21 points, including five 3-pointers.
Mack finished with 14 points, 19 rebounds, six blocks and three steals. Freshman Taylen Collins added 12 points and four assists.
The Cowgirls will return home to face Texas on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
