Three Cowgirls Named To Preseason All-Big 12 Soccer Team
August 06, 2020 | Cowgirl Soccer
IRVING, Texas — Oklahoma State had a league-high three players named to the 2020 Preseason All-Big 12 Soccer Team, which was selected by the conference's head coaches.
Cowgirls' Olyvia Dowell, Kim Rodriguez and Grace Yochum each received recognition on the 11-person preseason squad. Texas Tech also had three players on the list.
All three Cowgirls collected All-Big 12 honors a year ago, with Rodriguez and Yochum earning spots on the first team and Dowell a second-team honoree.
A senior defender, Rodriguez became the fifth Cowgirl in program history to earn All-America honors in 2019 as she anchored a defense that posted 10 shutouts and allowed just 18 goals in 22 contests. She also recorded three goals and seven assists.
Rodriguez enters her final collegiate season having tallied nine goals and 16 assists in 61 matches for the Cowgirls.
Following a strong freshman season, Yochum was even better as a sophomore in 2019 as the midfielder led OSU with 11 goals despite missing seven games with injury. That goal total that was the most ever by a Cowgirl sophomore and ranked fifth in the Big 12 last season. She posted three multi-goal games, including a hat trick at Iowa State, and her 11 goals were the most in a season by an OSU player since 2013.
Dowell had an impressive freshman campaign a year ago, starting all 22 games at forward for the Big 12 champion Cowgirls and collecting five goals and eight assists. She led OSU with 68 shots.
OSU is scheduled to open the 2020 season on Sept. 4 when the Cowgirls host Texas A&M at Neal Patterson Stadium.
