Cowgirl Equestrian Western Riders Enjoy Summer Success

Oklahoma State's Equestrian riders had a successful summer competing in the show ring.
Six Cowgirls represented OSU's Western Team this summer across the country. Sophomores Jojo Roberson, Caroline Nielson, Natalie Vargo and freshmen Madison Musser, Claire McDowall and Lizzie Meerman competed.
A returning freshman standout, Roberson competed throughout the state of Oklahoma at the AQHA Youth World Championship and NSBA World Championship, where she earned Level 3 Showmanship World Champion at each. At the NSBA World Championship, she was the Non-pro Ranch Trail World Champion and placed third in Horsemanship.
At the AQHA Youth World Championship, Roberson finished sixth in Horsemanship. At the Redbud Spectacular, she was the Youth Ranch Challenge Champion. Roberson also competed at the Big A in Athens, Georgia, where she earned Level 3 Horsemanship and Ranch Riding Circuit Champion and Reserve 14-18 Showmanship Circuit Champion.
Nielson also competed throughout Oklahoma this summer at the AQHA Youth World Championship and NSBA World Championship. At AQHA, Neilson was the Level 3 Western Riding World Champion, Horsemanship top ten and third place in Showmanship. At the NSBA in Tulsa, she was the Reserve World Champion in Horsemanship.
Vargo competed at the AQHA Youth World Championship and was Level 3 Hunter Under Saddle World Champion, Trail-Bronze Champion and Performance Halter Mares-Reserve World Champion while placing fifth in Horsemanship.
Incoming freshman Musser kept the momentum going for the Cowgirls as she collected several accolades at the AQHA Youth World Championship. Musser was the Reserve World Champion, as well as third place in Level 2 Trail. She also was top 15 Level 3 Equitation and top 15 in Level 3 Hunter Under Saddle. At the NSBA World Show, she was the World Champion in Novice Youth Trail. She was Top 15 in Level 2 Showmanship, top 30 in level two Horsemanship and a finalist for Level 3 Trail on two different horses.
McDowall and Meerman, also incoming freshmen, found success as well. McDowall was a Horsemanship finalist at the AQHA Youth World Championship and placed seventh in Horsemanship at the NSBA World Championship.
Meerman was the Circuit Champion in Horsemanship and Showmanship at the Harbor Classic in Michigan. She also competed in Pennsylvania, where she was the Circuit Champion in Showmanship and had top placings in Horsemanship.
