Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen Captures OGA Stroke Play Title

DUNCAN, Okla. — Oklahoma State's Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen fired a closing 69 to claim a three-stroke victory at the Oklahoma Golf Association Stroke Play Championship on Wednesday at The Territory.
A sophomore from Nivå, Denmark, Neergaard-Petersen entered the final round one shot off the lead before posting his closing 3-under score. After opening with a 67 on Monday, he followed with a 66 during his second round on Tuesday en route to his 14-under total of 202.
Neergaard-Petersen opened his final round with five consecutive pars before posting back-to-back birdies at the sixth and seventh to turn in 2-under 34. After three-straight pars to begin his inward nine, he carded his lone bogey of the day at the par-3 13th. Neergaard-Petersen bounced back with birdies at the 14th and 15th before coming home with three consecutive pars.
He was joined in the top 10 by Cowboy freshman Brian Stark, who posting a 7-under total of 209 to finish alone in seventh place.
Neergaard-Petersen joins a list of Cowboy champions at the event which includes Kevin Whipple (1985), Trent Whitekiller (2007, 2008), Talor Gooch (2012) and Hayden Wood (2013).
