Celebrating Cross Country/Track and Field Graduates

STILLWATER - Spring graduation at Oklahoma State has been postponed until December due to the global pandemic, but four All-Americans are part of a group of 10 from the OSU cross country/track and field program who would have walked across the stage this weekend. We honor each of them.

A two-time All-American, Sinclaire Johnson earned legendary status at Oklahoma State after winning the 2019 NCAA 1,500 meter championship with the second-fastest time in NCAA history. She also holds top-three times in school history in the 1,000 meters, the mile and the 3,000 meters. She piled up a number of academic awards during her collegiate career and served as part of the leadership group of OSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee. Â

The greatest and most accomplished long jumper in Oklahoma State history, Jacob Fincham-Dukes is a five-time All-American and two-time Big 12 champion. He holds both the indoor and outdoor school record in the long jump. In addition to his work on the track, he was a three-time Academic All-Big 12 selection.

A 2018 All-America pole vaulter, Blake Scott is third on OSU's all-time indoor list and fifth on OSU's all-time outdoor list in the event. In addition to his work in competition, he was a three-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 honoree and a two-time selection to the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association All-Academic Team.

Ashenafi Hatte came to Oklahoma State as a junior college transfer and leaves as an All-American, as he earned that distinction during the 2018 cross country season. He made a mark on the OSU record book during his time in Stillwater, setting the fifth-best 8,000-meter cross country time in school history. In 2020, he earned first-team Academic All-Big 12 distinction.

A five-time All-Big 12 performer, Kaytlyn Larson set top-10 marks in school history in both the outdoor 800 meters and in the 3,000 meter steeplechase. Between cross country and track and field, Larson amassed six Academic All-Big 12 honors during her time in Stillwater.

The school record holder in the heptathlon, Mace Metcalf was a standout. He earned a pair of All-Big 12 honors and posted top-10 marks in school history in the 60 meter hurdles, pole vault, javelin and decathlon. In the classroom, he was an All-Academic individual selection by the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association and was a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree.

Jorge Perez came to Oklahoma State as a sought-after junior college transfer, as he was a six-time All-American at Central Arizona. He earned All-Big 12 honors during his first cross country season with the Cowboys and still has indoor eligibility remaining.

The indoor school-record holder in the pole vault, Elliett Kulkin was a two-time first-team Academic All-Big 12 honoree and a recipient of the Big 12's highest honor when she earned the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award in 2020.

Including both cross country and track and field, Anna Gunter earned five Academic All-Big 12 honors during her Cowgirl career and in 2020, she received the Big 12's highest honor when she earned the Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award.

A 4.0 student who holds a leadership position within OSU's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee, Katherine Ruck is a two-time Academic All-Big 12 honoree who took only three years to graduate. She still has two years of cross country eligibility and a year of track and field eligibility remaining.
