STILLWATER, Okla. – Oklahoma State's Ayumi Miyamoto was among those honored on Monday by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, earning the organization's Central Regional Rookie of the Year honor.
Last month, Miyamoto and doubles partner Lisa Marie Rioux were named ITA All-Americans after finishing the year ranked No. 5 in the Oracle/ITA Division I Women's Rankings. The duo finished the year with an 11-0 mark.
Additionally, the freshman from Chiba, Japan posted a 6-4 record in singles play for the Cowgirls, who finished the season with an 11-1 mark and a No. 14 national ranking.
Despite the shortened season due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the ITA recognizes the hard work on and off the court from our deserving student-athletes. The Division I Playing Awards include: Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Player to Watch, ITA Most Improved Senior, ITA Senior Player of the Year, ITA Community Service Award, and ITA Cissie Leary Sportsmanship Award.
The national winners of the awards will be announced next Monday during a special virtual awards ceremony. The awards ceremony can be viewed on the ITA's Twitter, Facebook and YouTube pages.
