April 01, 2020 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Cowboy track and field long jumper Joshua Anadu has been named a 2020 Goldwater Scholar.
The Goldwater Foundation provides scholarships to college sophomores and juniors who intend to pursue research careers in the natural sciences, mathematics and engineering. The scholarships provided help ensure that the U.S. is producing the number of highly qualified professionals the nation needs in these critical fields.
A junior from Katy, Texas, Anadu is majoring in environmental science with a concentration in water resources and minors in chemistry and geology. Anadu is also heavily involved around the Oklahoma State campus. He is a member of the OSU Honors College and has participated in many campus projects including the Soil Microbiology Lab, the Fish Toxicology Lab and the Invertebrate Paleontology Lab.
His experiences also extend beyond the OSU campus, as he has served a Research Intern in Houston, Texas, on mosquito research and participated in a National Science Foundation Research Experience for Undergraduates which focused on potential climate change impacts on fire ants at the University of Texas during the summer of 2019.
Anadu also serves as the President of the OSU Environmental Science Club, where he has presented his own research and served in a leadership role. His future plans are to become a research scientist in geobiology and work in fields of nutrient-limited geobiology, biomarkers and the origins of life.
He was recently awarded the 2020 Dr. Gerald Lage Academic Achievement Award, which is the Big 12 conference's highest academic achievement. On the track, Anadu's indoor season was highlighted by a pair of fifth-place finishes in the long jump at the Arkansas Invitational and Texas Tech Shootout.
