Cowgirl Equestrian Riders Receive NCEA Academic Honors

The NCEA announced 27 Oklahoma State Cowgirl Equestrian riders were recipients of 2020 Farnam NCEA All-Academic and APHA Academic Honor Roll accolades.Â
The Cowgirls had seven recipients on the Farnam NCEA academic first team, with Sydnee Gemar, Stephanie Helsen, Hannah Janson, Hannah Lovrien, Katie Schell, Emma Verplank and Sydnie Ziegler making the list.Â
To receive academic first-team honors a rider must have competed in a minimum of 70% of their school's meets. The rider must also have earned a cumulative minimum grade point average of 3.5 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring (2019) and Fall (2019) semesters.    Â
Katie Pelzel and Kristi Wiggins earned Farnam NCEA academic second-team honors for the Cowgirls.Â
To receive honors for academic second team riders must have competed in a minimum of 60% of their school's meets and have earned a cumulative minimum GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring (2019) and Fall (2019) semesters. Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â
Abigail Brayman, Hannah Coleman and Cassidy Watters were honorable mentions for the Farnam NCEA academic team.Â
To earn honorable mention a rider must have competed in a minimum of 50% of their schools meets, not including demo or exhibitions, and have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring (2019) and Fall (2019) semesters.                  Â
The Cowgirls had 15 riders make the APHAÂ academic honor roll. For this achievement, a rider must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 while maintaining full-time enrollment in the previous Spring (2019) and Fall (2019) semesters. There is no competition requirement.Â
Amanda Atkins, Mackenzie Chapman, Sarah Clymer, Katelynn Dauzat, Megan Donald, Kate Gauthier, Kinsey Jones, Kailn Koechel, Hallie McClintock, Kinsey McDougald, Emily Morris, Sidney Perdue, Caitlyn Sanchez, Amber Smith and Lia Turrene were Cowgirls named to the honor roll.Â
