Cowgirl Maja Stark In Second After First Day of Hurricane Invitational

CORAL GABLES, Fla. – Freshman Maja Stark sits in second place on the individual leaderboard after firing a 2-under par 142 over the first two rounds of the Hurricane Invitational.

A 67 in the first round set a new career low for Stark and is tied for the second lowest round by a Cowgirl this season in only her second tournament. She ended the day with a 75 in the second round and trails the leader, TCU's Trinity King, by one stroke.

As a team the Cowgirls were tied for first place after the first round, but a 20-over par second round slid the Cowgirls into fifth place. TCU leads the field by seven strokes at 8-over par with 18 holes to play.

Han-Hsuan Yu birdied a par-3, 166-yard hole No. 2 near the end of her second round to move into a tie for 13th place at 4-over par. Isabella Fierro carded a 72-80-152 and is in a tie for 29th place. Hailey Jones (+12) is in a tie for 46th place, while Emma Whitaker sits three strokes back of Jones at 15-over par. Playing as an individual in her first tournament since the fall, Michelle Forsland turned in an 81-85-166.

Stark and the rest of the Cowgirls will look to climb up the leaderboard in the final round of the Hurricane Invitational, which begins Tuesday at 7 a.m. CT.
