Bunyawi Thamchaiwat Earns First-Career Big 12 Player Of The Week Award

STILLWATER – Sophomore Cowgirl Bunyawi Thamchaiwat was announced as the Big 12 Women's Player of the Week after her outstanding performance in week 9 of the 2020 season.
Thamchaiwat led the Cowgirls to two wins in their first Big 12 matches of the season over No. 42 Texas Tech and the TCU Horned Frogs. Thamchaiwat played both of her singles and doubles matches on court two this past weekend and went undefeated in the matches that finished.
The sophomore from Thailand started the weekend off with a win over No. 114 Margarita Skriabina of Texas Tech in straight sets, 6-2, 6-1. Her only doubles match that finished this weekend was also against Texas Tech, as she and Lenka Stara defeated Lisa Mays and Nell Miller, 6-3.
Thamchaiwat went on to defeat her fifth ranked opponent of the season when TCU and OSU faced off in Stillwater. The Cowgirl defeated No. 81 Marie Norris on court two in a competitive matchup, 7-5, 7-6(8).
This marks the first-career weekly award Thamchaiwat has received, but she becomes the second Cowgirl to claim the award after Lisa Marie Rioux won it two weeks ago. Thamchaiwat is 9-0 this season in singles, including her 5-0 record against ranked opponents.
