STILLWATER -Â The Intercollegiate Tennis Association released its latest singles and doubles Division I women's rankings on Wednesday. Oklahoma State claims three individuals and two doubles teams in the national rankings, including Lisa Marie Rioux and Ayumi Miyamoto jumping into the top-10 of doubles.
Lisa Marie Rioux and Ayumi Miyamoto were ranked No. 17 in the previous ITA rankings, but after an impressive start to the spring, they find themselves at No. 7 in the country. Rioux and Miyamoto are 6-0 so far this season, with three of those wins coming against ranked opponents. The highest-ranked opponent the Cowgirl duo defeated was No. 34 Lauren Alter and Tatum Rice of Arkansas, who came in at No. 22 in the country in this set of rankings.
The highest ranking in singles came from Bunyawi Thamchaiwat, who comes in at No. 28. Thamchaiwat was ranked No. 29 to start the spring, but she has started her spring season 6-0 with her final two wins coming on court one. Thamchaiwat's most outstanding win of the season came in Oklahoma State's win over Tulsa when she defeated No. 52 Martina Okalova, 6-0, 2-6, 1-0(12-10).
Lisa Marie Rioux was ranked No. 17 in the country entering the spring season, but she fell to No. 45 in Wednesday's rankings. Rioux is 6-1 so far this season with one win coming against a ranked opponent, but her only loss coming against No. 11 Shiori Fukuda, who is now No. 8 in the country. Rioux has played all but two matches on court one this season.
The final individual in the ITA rankings for Oklahoma State is freshman Ayumi Miyamoto, who jumped from No. 92 to No. 80 in the country after starting the season 5-1. One of her wins includes a victory over No. 109 Jackie Carr of Arkansas, 6-1, 6-3.
Oklahoma State also had Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Dariya Detkovskaya in the doubles rankings, but they have not played together this spring season. Thamchaiwat has been playing on court two with Lenka Stara, while Detkovskaya has been playing on court three most of the year. That duo came in at No. 33 in this set of rankings.
The No. 16 Cowgirls will resume play again on Feb. 16 when they welcome No. 6 Pepperdine to Stillwater.
