Cowboys Begin Spring Slate In Hawaii
February 05, 2020 | Cowboy Golf
WAIKOLOA, Hawaii – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will tee it up for the first time in 2020 this week when it begins play at the 29th annual Amer Ari Intercollegiate at Waikoloa Kings Golf Course.
The Cowboys, who have won the event each of the past two years, will be one of 20 teams in action at the par-72, 7,074-yard layout. The 54-hole tournament will get underway on Thursday with a 7:30 a.m. (HST) start and will run through Saturday with 18 holes being contested each day.
With titles in each of the past two years, OSU has now won the tournament eight times since its inception in 1991. Last year, the Cowboys earned a 10-stroke victory, finishing at 47-under 817. Two years ago, the Pokes cruised to a 17-shot victory at the event. OSU's win marked the first time a team has won consecutive titles at the event since Georgia Tech won the 1999 and 2000 events.
Individually, Matthew Wolff became the most recent Cowboy to claim medalist honors. With his three-shot win in 2019, Wolff became the sixth OSU medalist at the event, joining Jordan Niebrugge, Jonathan Moore, Tyler Leon, current head coach Alan Bratton and Craig Hainline as winners of the tournament.
The Cowboys will start their spring slate with a starting five which consists of senior Ferdinand Müller, junior Austin Eckroat, sophomores Aman Gupta and Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen and freshman Brian Stark. Freshman Dillon Stewart will compete individually.
Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
