Wyatt Sheets Selected as Final 2020 Big 12 Wrestler of the Week

STILLWATER – Cowboy wrestler Wyatt Sheets earned his and the Cowboys' second Big 12 Wrestler of the Week honor of the season Tuesday after taking out No. 5 Kaleb Young in Iowa City on Sunday evening. Sheets is the only Cowboy wrestler to earn the conference award this season.
The 157-pounder collected one of two dual wins for the Cowboys on Sunday with a 9-4 decision over fifth-ranked Young. After giving up an early takedown, Sheets escaped soon after and was down a point headed to the second. He scored a reversal in the second and two third-period takedowns to secure nearly a minute and a half of riding time to win the dual.
The win was Sheets' sixth straight for the Pokes. In the month of February, he has gone 3-0 against ranked opponents and posted a perfect 5-0 record.
The redshirt sophomore landed in the Intermat rankings after defeating No. 11 Jarrett Jacques (MIZZ) only to drop out the following week. Today, he reentered the polls, scoring a career-best spot at No. 14.
Sheets has put together an 18-6 campaign entering postseason action with a 6-3 record against conference opponents and four wins against ranked wrestlers.
