Oklahoma State Game Notes
• The Basics
The Phillips 66 Bedlam Series makes its way to Stillwater for the second showdown between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma. This will be the 240th installment of Bedlam basketball, which makes this one of college basketball's longest-standing rivalries. This game will serve as the rematch after OU's 82-69 win over the Cowboys back on Feb. 1 in Norman. The Cowboys have won two of their last three games overall and each of their last two home games, but will be looking to snap OU's three-game win streak in the series. Oklahoma State's next win over Oklahoma will be its 100th Bedlam victory.
• On the Air
The Cowboys and Sooners will square off on ESPN2 with Mark Neely and Chris Spatola on the call. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m. CT on Saturday, and the webcast can be seen on the WatchESPN app or ESPN.com/Watch. As always, Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb will have the Cowboy Radio Network call from the historic white maple floor of GIA.
• Seeding Scenarios
With five regular-season games remaining before the Big 12 Championship, the Cowboys sit in ninth place at 3-10 in league play. If the conference tournament started today, Oklahoma State would play eighth-seeded Iowa State in the opening round for the rights to take on No. 2 seed Kansas in the quarterfinals. The Cowboys are 12-2 all-time in the first round of the Big 12 Championship. However, OSU is just two games behind TCU for sixth place in the standings, and based on win percentage the Cowboys will face the second "easiest" remaining schedule in the Big 12 over the final weeks of the season (.574 win percentage).
• Consistent Cam
Cameron McGriff, who is coming off a 19-point game at West Virginia, has morphed into Oklahoma State's most consistent player. The senior has made it a point to get into the paint, and as a result he's scored in double-figures in each of the last seven games and has a team-high KenPom offensive efficiency rating of 106.0. Over this stretch, McGriff is averaging 13.3 points, 7.7 rebounds, 1.0 assists and is shooting 45.6 percent from the floor. What's more, OSU has won all three of its last five contests. He recently became just the sixth player in school history with at least 1,000 points, 700 rebounds and 55 blocks. The senior has played in 126 career games, which is a feat only 15 players in school history have topped. McGriff ranks eighth in the Big 12 with 6.8 rebounds per game, and his 82.5 free throw percentage ranks sixth.
• The All-Sport Bedlam Series
Oklahoma State and Oklahoma compete yearly in the Phillips 66 Bedlam Series, an all-sports competition between the two schools, which are separated by only 80 miles along Interstate 35. Oklahoma State has won the overall Bedlam series in five of the last six years. The series champion is decided by wins and losses in head to head competition. In sports where there is no head to head matchup, the Big 12 Championship final standings are used.
• Bedlam Basketball
Welcome to the 240th hardwood meeting between Oklahoma State and Oklahoma in a rivalry that dates back to 1908. With rare exception these two programs have played at least twice a year since 1916, and the 239 all-time meetings are the most against any opponent for OSU (176 games against Kansas ranks second). OU leads the overall series, 140-99, and has taken the last three games. The Cowboys swept the series in 2017 and took two of the three matchups in 2018. In Stillwater, Oklahoma State leads the series 63-46 and has taken two of the last three. OSU's next win over OU will be its 100th Bedlam victory.
