Oklahoma State Game Notes
• The Basics
Oklahoma State is heading into Saturday's showdown against No. 24 Texas Tech with momentum. Back to firing on all cylinders, the Cowboys have won two of their last three games, with the lone loss coming in a heartbreaker at No. 1 Baylor that was a one-possession ballgame with 14 seconds to play. OSU will use Saturday's game to commemorate the 25-year anniversary of the 1995 Final Four run. The legendary Eddie Sutton, Bryant "Big Country" Reeves and several other members of that 1995 squad will be on hand for what should be a memorable day in Gallagher-Iba Arena.
• On the Air
The Cowboys and Red Raiders will square off on CBS with Ian Eagle and Bill Raftery on the call. Tipoff is slated for Noon on Saturday, and the webcast can be seen at cbssports.com/live. As always, Dave Hunziker and John Holcomb will have the Cowboy Radio Network call.
• Party Like It's 1995!
Oklahoma State will commemorate the 25-year anniversary of the 1995 Final Four Cowboy basketball team with a celebration and reunion during Saturday's game. Legendary coach Eddie Sutton, current Texas Tech coaching staff member and former OSU head coach Sean Sutton and players from the 1995 team will be honored in special pregame and halftime ceremonies, while head coach Mike Boynton and the current Cowboys will pay tribute to the 1995 team with a special uniform for the game. The first 1,995 fans in attendance can pick up a free t-shirt celebrating the 1995 Final Four team. The t-shirts will be available in the East lobby of Gallagher-Iba Arena when the doors open at 11 a.m. Fans are encouraged to party like it's 1995 by dressing in their favorite 90s clothes for the game and enjoying the video tributes and 90s music.
• 20 Minutes Or More
Yor Anei is coming off a 15-point, seven-rebound performance at Kansas State that saw him go 6-of-6 from the floor, including his first career 3-pointer. Most importantly for OSU, the sophomore played 25:51. This season, OSU is 9-2 when Anei plays 20 minutes or more and 3-10 when he doesn't, and the statistical differences between the two cohorts are stark. Anei's unique shot-blocking ability has a suffocating effect on opponents. When he is on the floor, Anei is responsible for blocking 12.8 percent of the opposition's 2-point field goal attempts, a figure that ranks 11th nationally according to KenPom. Nationwide, only 40 active players have 130 career blocks, and Anei (132 blocks) is one of just three sophomores on that list. His 2.36 career blocks per game ranks eighth among all active players.
• Road Warriors
Oklahoma State has four true road wins and two neutral-court victories this season. That gives the Cowboys six wins away from home this year, which is tied for the most in the Mike Boynton era and tied with West Virginia for the third most in the Big 12. Only No. 1 Baylor (11) and No. 3 Kansas (11) have more wins away from home than OSU. With three regular season road games remaining, as well as postseason play, OSU has the chance to win the most games away from Gallagher-Iba Arena since the 2004-05 Cowboys won 13 games outside of Stillwater. The NCAA championship squad of 1945-46 owns the school record with an incredible mark of 23-1 away from home.
• The Series With Texas Tech
Oklahoma State owns a 44-23 edge against Texas Tech in a series that dates back to 1937. The Red Raiders have taken the last three meetings, including the 85-50 loss in Lubbock in January that went down as the fourth largest loss in school history. The Cowboys own a 23-5 mark against the Red Raiders in Stillwater, including wins in 14 of the last 16 meetings, with the only loss coming in 2016. The Cowboys and Red Raiders began their series in 1937 with a 38-19 win for Mr. Henry Iba's Aggies in Oklahoma City.
