Cowgirl Tennis Continues Success at Fall Series Championships

STILLWATER- Oklahoma State's women's tennis team built on an excellent start to the Fall Series Championships on Saturday at the Greenwood Tennis Center. OSU will be represented in the doubles final and have three Cowgirls compete for singles championships.
"Our girls are doing a good job of competing," head coach Chris Young said. "Our depth has proved to be a strength this weekend with several girls advancing to the finals tomorrow. We are looking forward to finishing strong tomorrow and I hope we can have a crowd to watch."
All three Cowgirl duos advanced to the doubles semifinals. Bunywai Thamchaiwat and Ayumi Miyamoto defeated Angelina Shakhraichuk Kristina Sorokolet of Baylor, 6-1, Dariya Detkovskaya and Lenka Stara defeated Texas Tech's Nell Miller and Kaitlin Staines, 6-2. Alana Wolfberg and Daniella Medvedeva defeated Texas Techs Olivia Peet and Kailey Evans, 6-3. Thamchaiwat and Miyamoto defeated teammates Wolfberg and Detkovskaya to advance to the championship in doubles tomorrow at 10 a.m.Â
In singles play, four Cowgirls earned spots in semifinals matches in their respective flights. Alana Wolfberg defeated Kansas' Tiffany Lagarde, 6-1, 6-0, and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat defeated Maty Cancini of Iowa State, 6-0, 4-6, 10-8, to advance and face each other in the flight one championship. Dariya Detkovskaya defeated Ivana Corley of Oklahoma, 7-6, 6-4, to earn a spot in the flight two final.
Championships matches will be held tomorrow morning.Â
