Ferrari Brings Home First Place at UWW Junior Nationals

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State freshman wrestler AJ Ferrari brought home first place at the UWW Junior Nationals tournament this weekend in Omaha, Nebraska.
Ferrari dominated his way through his first three matches winning by tech fall in each of the bouts. The No. 1 recruit in the class of 2020, Ferrari and Missouri's Rocky Elam, a top-15 recruit in the class, met in the championship match of the 92 kg bracket.
Ferrari defeated Elam 6-1 in the final, becoming the 2020 UWW Junior National Champion at 92 kg. Throughout the tournament, Ferrari outscored his opponents 37-1 on his route to the title. By winning the tournament, Ferrari is now eligible for the 2021 Junior World Team Trials.
Reece Witcraft also represented the Cowboys in Omaha wrestling in the 57 kg bracket. Like Ferrari, Witcraft won his first three matches by tech fall, but lost a 9-8 decision to Angelo Rini of New York City RTC in the quarterfinals. The Cowboy sophomore finished the weekend with a 3-2 record.
Oklahoma State signee Victor Voinovich put together a 4-2 record at the tournament in the 65 kg weight class. The future Cowboy picked up three tech falls before losing a competitive match in the quarterfinals. Voinovich finished the tournament with a seventh-place finish.
