October 21, 2020 | Cowboy Cross Country & Track
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Isai Rodriguez was named Big 12 Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week honors after a standout performance last weekend at the OSU Invitational.
Rodriguez, a junior hailing from Ringwood, Oklahoma, finished fourth overall among attached athletes and paced the Cowboys for the second straight time this season. In a field that included nine of the last 11 team national champions, the 2018 All-American led the Cowboys to a runner-up finish and shaved 14 seconds off his season-best 8K time with a run of 23:47.8.
This was the first Big 12 Runner of the Week honor for Oklahoma State since Molly Born earned the women's accolade after the final week of the 2019 regular season, where she placed eighth in a field of 64 teams at the Pre-National Invitational in Terre Haute, Indiana.
Rodriguez and the Pokes travel to Lawrence, Kansas for the Big 12 Championships on October 30.
