Cowgirl Tennis Jumps Into Top 10 In Latest ITA Rankings
January 22, 2020 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State women's tennis team jumped one spot in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association rankings released on Wednesday to land at No. 10. This is the first set of rankings released by the ITA since the start of the spring season.
This is the 92nd consecutive week that Oklahoma State has found itself in the top 25 of the ITA rankings. The last time OSU missed the cut was March 18, 2014. The Cowgirls previously jumped up one spot from their end-of-year rankings in 2019 in the preseason rankings, in which they landed at No. 11.
The No. 10 Cowgirls have started the 2020 season with perfection. They are currently 4-0 with wins coming against Abilene Christian, Wichita State, Central Arkansas and Oral Roberts. OSU swept three of those four opponents and only dropped one team point to Wichita State in back-to-back doubleheaders in Stillwater.
OSU will now host the ITA Kickoff beginning on Jan. 25. This tournament is essentially the first two rounds of the National Team Indoor Championships, which will take place the second week of February. The Cowgirls will begin the ITA Kickoff with a match against San Diego at 12:00 on Saturday, Jan. 25.
Oklahoma State is set to take on five of the top 25 teams in the 2020 regular season alone: Pepperdine (6), Texas (7), UCF (12), Kansas (19), and Miami (23).
