STILLWATER - The Oklahoma State Cowgirls fell to 11-6 (2-3 Big 12) after a hard-fought 64-63 loss to the Cyclones of Iowa State.

The Cowgirls got off to a slow start offensively, letting Iowa State jump out to an early 7-0 lead before settling in and going on a 12-0 run of their own. Ja'Mee Asberry led OSU in the first quarter with six points, going 2-for-2 from three-point range. The defense held strong after the initial Cyclone run, allowing Iowa State to shoot just 29.4 percent from the field in the first quarter.

Ja'Mee Asberry led all players in the first half with 12 points. The OSU bench provided an early spark, accounting for 24 points in the first half. The Cowgirls caused 12 turnovers in the first two quarters, leading to 16 points. The defense held Iowa State to 4-of-14 shooting in the second quarter and to a 29 percent field goal percentage in the first half to take a 34-25 lead into the half.

Iowa State found their stride coming out of the half, taking a 48-47 lead into the fourth quarter on 8-of-14 shooting. The third quarter proved to be important, as it was the Cyclones' highest-scoring quarter of the afternoon, and the Cowgirls' lowest-scoring quarter.

After a Kassidy De Lapp charge, momentum shifted back to the home squad, but Iowa State had one more late push left for OSU. Despite holding the Cyclones scoreless through nearly half of the final quarter, the Cowgirls were held scoreless during the final 2:17 of the game and were unable to hold onto the lead. Vivian Gray led the Cowgirls in the fourth quarter with six points.

Kassidy De Lapp led the way for the Cowgirls with a career-high 21 points and 5 blocks, and a season-high 9 rebounds. Vivian Gray turned in her 42nd consecutive game in double figures with 12 points, and Ja'Mee Asberry also contributed a 12-point performance.

The Cowgirls return to action on Wednesday, January 22 in Morgantown, West Virginia to take on the Mountaineers at 6 p.m.
