Babic And Doubles Pairing Of Thamchaiwat And Miyamoto Win Again

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Vladica Babic, volunteer assistant for Cowgirl tennis, and the duo of Bunyawi Thamchaiwat and Ayumi Miyamoto defeated their opponents in the main draw of singles and doubles play on Friday, respectively.
Miyamoto and Thamchaiwat defeated the top-seeded pairing of Nika Kukharchak and Rasheeda McAdoo in a back-and-forth affair. The Cowgirl duo found a way to win the semifinal match in straight sets: 7-5, 7-6(2).
In singles play, Babic defeated Carmen Roxana Manu without much trouble in a 6-2, 6-1 victory in the quarterfinal match. Babic graduated from Oklahoma State in 2018 and immediately transitioned into her current role as a volunteer assistant.
Thamchaiwat and Miyamoto will play Malkia Menguene and Maria Toran Ribes in the final match of doubles play on Saturday morning. Menguene and Ribes defeated the fourth-seeded duo of Tiphanie Fique and Amber Washington in their semifinal match: 6-3, 5-7, 10-4.
Babic will go up against the second seed in the tournament, Anastasia Nefedova, for a chance to advance to the finals of singles play. Nefedova defeated Aneta Laboutkova in straight sets: 6-1, 6-2. Their semifinal match will follow the doubles final on Saturday.
