Cowgirl Duo Advances To The Semifinal In Lawrence

LAWRENCE, Kan. – Ayumi Miyamoto and Bunyawi Thamchaiwat won their quarterfinal match in the main draw of doubles play at the Lawrence $15K on Thursday. Miyamoto and Thamchaiwat defeated Dalayna Hewitt and Jada Robinson in a 6-3, 6-3 victory, which qualifies the Cowgirl duo for the semifinal of the tournament.
Miyamoto also competed in singles play on Thursday but fell to Carmen Roxana Manu in the second round of the tournament. Thamchaiwat fell in her singles match on Thursday as well to Anastasia Nefedova.
Oklahoma State volunteer assistant, Vladica Babic, defeated Dalayna Hewitt in her second-round singles match: 6-4, 7-5. Babic, the fourth seed in the main draw, will compete in the quarterfinal on Friday against Carmen Roxana Manu.
Lisa-Marie Rioux and Dariya Detkovskaya lost each of their singles matches in the first round of the main draw on Wednesday. Rioux won two qualifying matches for the chance to compete in the main draw. The other Cowgirl duo that competed in the tournament, Detkovskaya and Rioux, fell in their doubles match on Wednesday as well.
The duo of Miyamoto and Thamchaiwat will take on the first-seeded pairing of Nika Kukharchuk and Rasheeda McAdoo in the semifinal on Friday.
