Cowboy Basketball Non-Con Slate Includes Eight Top-100 Squads

STILLWATER – The 2019-20 Oklahoma State basketball non-conference slate will feature eight games against teams that finished in the top 100 of the 2019 KenPom Rankings, including five in the top 50, five NCAA Tournament squads, two NIT participants and seven 20-win teams.
According to KenPom, OSU has faced a national top-5 schedule in two of the last three seasons, and that streak could continue in 2019-20. Last year, OSU's schedule was ranked No. 12 in the official NCAA N.E.T. Rankings and No. 5 by KenPom.
Based on last season's final N.E.T. Rankings, this year's 12-game non-conference schedule features three "Quadrant 1" games and three games in "Quadrant 2". Only four opponents would qualify as "Quadrant 4" games.
Once combined with OSU's 2020 Big 12 Conference schedule and a road opponent for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge (to be announced at a later date) the Cowboys could equal last year's total of 25 Q1 and Q2 games. Only Kansas (28), Auburn (27), Villanova (26) and Nebraska (26) faced more Q1 and Q2 opponents prior to NCAA Tournament/NIT play last season.

The Cowboys will host key games in GIA against Ivy League champs Yale (Nov. 17), Big East foe Georgetown (Dec. 4), regional rival Wichita State (Dec. 8) and will host a rematch with Minnesota at the BOK Center in Tulsa (Dec. 21).
OSU will see hostile road environments at 24-win Charleston (Nov. 13) and 33-win Houston (Dec. 15), which advanced to the Sweet 16 last season.
The NIT Season Tip-Off will pit the Cowboys against perennial power Syracuse (Nov. 27), which is coming off an NCAA Tournament bid. The second game will feature either Ole Miss or Penn State (Nov. 29), which both finished in the top-50 of the N.E.T. Rankings.
The opening week of the 2019-20 season will feature home games against Oral Roberts (Nov. 6) and UMKC (Nov. 9). Home tilts against Western Michigan (Nov. 22) and Southeastern Louisiana (Dec. 29) round out the non-conference portion of the schedule.
Tipoff times and TV information will be released as they come available. Oklahoma State's Big 12 Conference schedule is expected to be announced in September.
