June 07, 2019 | Cowgirl Tennis
STILLWATER – Oracle ITA rankings positioned the Oklahoma State women's tennis team as the No. 1 program in the Central Region for the fifth-consecutive season in this week's poll.
The Cowgirls reached the semifinals bout of the Big 12 Conference Championship this spring before hosting a regional at the Greenwood Tennis Center for the fifth year in a row. After knocking off Central Arkansas and Miami, the Pokes advanced to the NCAA Super Regional where they faced top-ranked North Carolina. OSU dropped a close bout to the Tar Heels before sending individuals to the NCAA Championship in Orlando, Fla.
Katarina Stresnakova earned All-America honors in singles play for the first time in her Cowgirl tenure before she was eliminated in the round of 16. Sofia Blanco and Catherine Gulihur participated in doubles at the event and advanced to the second round of play.
Four individual Cowgirls finished among the top-100 ranked players in the Oracle ITA polls, and OSU bolstered one doubles tandem in the final rankings of the 2019 season.
The last time the Cowgirls didn't finish first in the region was the 2013-2014 season when they earned a runner-up finish. Senior Marina Guinart and freshman Bunyawi Thamchaiwat collected the No. 7 and No. 8 spots, respectively. Blanco and Gulihur notched the Pokes' lone doubles ranking at No. 3.
