Boynton Signs 6-10 Dutch Combo Forward Roessink
June 26, 2019 | Cowboy Basketball
STILLWATER – Oklahoma State basketball coach Mike Boynton strengthened one of the nation's top signing classes by adding 6-10 combo forward Hidde Roessink (pronounced: hid-EE Roo-SINK).
Roessink (6-10, 215, Fr., F, Arnhem, The Netherlands), who represented his country at the FIBA U16 European Championships, is viewed by the Cowboy coaches as a versatile stretch forward with a high basketball IQ and an elite shooting ability from the perimeter.
He spent the last two years playing as an amateur in the highest levels of basketball in the Netherlands. Last season, he was coached by former NBA first-round draft pick and the Netherlands basketball legend Geert Hammink while playing for the Dutch Windmills in the Dutch Basketball League, formerly known as the Eredivisie.
As a 17-year old in 2017-18, Roessink played for the Dreamfield Dolphins, where he helped the club gain promotion to the Promotiedivisie, the second division of basketball in the Netherlands.
Roessink grew up playing for his local team, the Arnhem Eagles, as well as the Den Bosch Youth Academy, where he was viewed as an emerging talent.
The 18-year old forward is expected to become just the seventh European-born player to suit up for the Cowboys. Roessink will join the team in July and will have four years of eligibility at Oklahoma State.
Roessink joins a Cowboy basketball signing class that is currently ranked among the nation's top 25 by 247Sports, Rivals and Scout. The Cowboys welcome back all five starters, as well as grad transfer Jonathan Laurent and freshmen Chris Harris, Marcus Watson, Avery Anderson III, Keylan Boone and Kalib Boone.
Cowboy basketball season tickets start at just $150 and are on sale now. Visit okstate.com/tickets or text/call 877-ALL-4-OSU for more information.
