Five OSU Horses Achieve NCEA Top-10 Status

WACO, Texas – Five Oklahoma State horses earned National Collegiate Equestrian Association Top-10 honors for the 2018-19 season, it was announced by the NCEA.
"We couldn't be more proud of our horses," said OSU head coach Larry Sanchez. "It just solidified in my mind that we do have some of the top horses in the country. We have several that are amongst the best collegiate horses out there."
Chili headlines the list for the Cowgirls, finishing the season on a high note. After cooking his competition at the NCEA Championships, Chili was named the Most Outstanding Horse in Horsemanship for the second time in his career. His two scores of 226.5 and 224.5 were the highest of any horse in the Horsemanship event finals.
Two OSU horses were recognized in the Reining Top-10 — Boss and Dillon.
Boss competed in the finals of team competition at the NCEA Championship and, similar to Chili, outperformed his counterparts. Both riders recorded meet-high scores of 218 while the next closest score was a 214.
Boss was also the Most Outstanding Horse in Reining last season.
On the Hunter Seat side, the Cowgirls had one top-10 horse in both Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences. Sparky represented OSU on the Flat and Caraway Over Fences.
"I continually thank my assistant coaches and the team for the way that they ride them every day to keep them that way," Sanchez said. "A lot of the horses that are recognized as top collegiate horses year after year have been doing this now in the program for several years."
