Blanco Earns CoSIDA Academic Honor

STILLWATER – Oklahoma State's Sofia Blanco, a senior member of the Cowgirl tennis team, claimed a spot on the 2018-19 Google Cloud Academic All-District At-Large Team, the College Sports Information Directors of America announced on Thursday.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for combined performances in the athletic realm and the classroom. Blanco was named to the NCAA Division I – District 7 first team and with the nod advances to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with honorees to be announced in June.
Blanco graduated this month with a bachelor's of science in psychology and has earned All-Big 12 academic honors already this spring in addition to being named the OSU female scholar athlete of the year. The Cowgirl earned a perfect 4.0 GPA to round out her final year in Stillwater.
The senior wrapped up team play in the NCAA round of 16 in North Carolina a week ago, finishing her singles season with a 22-5 mark. Blanco travels to the NCAA Individual Championships alongside doubles partner Catherine Gulihur with play beginning May 20, in Orlando, Fla. The 31st-ranked duo looks to improve upon a 17-5 season record.
