Cowboy Baseball Rewarded For Achievements In Classroom

IRVING, Texas – Highlighted by senior Joe Lienhard, Oklahoma State had 12 student-athletes named to the 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Conference Baseball Team, which was announced today by the league office.
Lienhard is one of nine Cowboys on the Academic All-Big 12 First Team, while three earned a spot on the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team.
This year's honor marks the third time Lienhard has collected Academic All-Big 12 First Team accolades in his career. Joining Lienhard on the first team are Brady Basso, Cade Cabbiness and C.J. Varela, who all earned first-team honors for the second time, along with first-time, first-team selections Jensen Elliott, Dylan Gardner, Max Hewitt, Carson McCusker and Noah Sifrit.
Named to the Academic All-Big 12 Second Team from OSU were Trevor Boone, Ben Leeper and Brett Standlee.
The 2019 Academic All-Big 12 Baseball Team includes 95 student-athletes, with 67 first-team members and 28 second-team honorees. First-team honorees consist of those who have maintained a 3.20 or better grade point average, while the second teamers hold a 3.00 to 3.19 GPA.
To qualify, student-athletes must maintain a 3.00 GPA or higher either cumulative or the two previous semesters and must have participated in 20 percent of their team's scheduled contests. Freshmen and transfers are not eligible in their first year of academic residence. Senior student-athletes who have participated for a minimum of two years and meet all the criteria except percent of participation are also eligible.
