IRVING, Texas – Oklahoma State is well represented on the 2019 Conference Big 12 Equestrian Awards, which were voted on by the conference's head coaches and released following the Big 12 Championship.
Cowgirls' head coach Larry Sanchez was honored for the third-straight year as the Big 12 Equestrian Coach of the Year. This marks the fourth time Sanchez has won the award.
For the second consecutive year, Harley Huff received Big 12 Horsemanship Rider of the Year honors, the first honoree to earn back-to-back honors in any discipline since 2016.
Huff was a road warrior, going 6-1 in meets away from home this season. She also led the Big 12 with eight wins.
Joining Huff on the Horsemanship team is senior Sarah Miller. The team captain went 7-3-1 on the year with one MOP and never scored below a 71.5.
OSU landed two Cowgirls on the All-Big 12 Equitation Over Fences team — sophomore Abigail Brayman and junior Hannah Janson.
Brayman went 6-4-1 and tallied three MOPs in Fences during the regular season. She also received both Flat and Fences MOP honors at the Big 12 Championship last weekend.
Janson finished the regular season with a 6-5 record and two MOPs.
Team captain Hannah Mitchell represented OSU's top-ranked Reining squad on the All-Big 12 Reining team with her standout performances this season. The junior went 7-3-1 in the Reining arena with three MOPs.
Mitchell was also the NCEA Reining Rider of the Year in 2017 as a freshman and has been a member of the All-Big 12 Reining team three years in a row.
Next up for the Cowgirls is the NCEA National Championships on April 17 in Waco, Texas.
