Cowgirls Press On Toward Top 15

STILLWATER – The Oklahoma State softball team continued to occupy a spot in both national rankings this week, as the Cowgirls held steady at No. 21 in the USA Today/NFCA Coaches Poll and jumped one spot to No. 16 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 this week.
OSU has now been ranked in the top 20 of at least one of the national polls for seven consecutive weeks, matching the squad's longest such stretch since a seven-week run that began on Feb. 18, 2011. The Pokes have also been ranked in at least one of the national polls in 19 of the last 21 weeks, with a No. 14 ranking in the ESPN.com/USA Softball Top 25 on March 12 marking the program's highest standing since finishing the 2011 season at No. 8.
The Cowgirls are currently 23-9 (2-1 Big 12) and coming off a seventh-straight week where they finished .500 or above. OSU went 2-2 last week, falling at Tulsa on Wednesday night, but bouncing back to take two of three matchups against Baylor in Waco, Texas. Coach Kenny Gajewski and his team have won six of their last seven Big 12 series, dating back to the start of conference play last year.
OSU has four matchups against two familiar foes on the schedule this week as midweek and conference play continue to heat up. First, the Cowgirls will conclude a 13-game road swing Wednesday night with a visit to Wichita State before returning to Stillwater to host No. 9/10 Texas in a three-game set at Cowgirl Stadium this weekend.
