Cowboys Resume Spring Slate At Querencia Cabo Collegiate
March 02, 2019 | Cowboy Golf
San Jose del Cabo, Mexico – Oklahoma State's men's golf team will return to action this weekend when it begins play at the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in San Jose del Cabo, Mexico.
The top-ranked Cowboys are coming off a runner-up showing at The Prestige in Palm Desert, California earlier this month.
This week's stop will take place at Querencia Golf Club and will consist of 54 holes over three days. The tournament will get underway on Sunday morning at 10 a.m. (CST) and will run through Tuesday. OSU will be one of 14 teams in the field at the par-71, 6,898-yard layout.
Last year, head coach Alan Bratton's squad cruised to an eight-shot victory and wrapped up its second consecutive victory at the event. Sophomore Matthew Wolff finished as the runner-up last year, while Viktor Hovland tied or third place.
Joining Wolff in the lineup this week will be seniors Zach Bauchou and Hayden Wood as well as sophomore Austin Eckroat and freshman Aman Gupta. Freshman Rasmus Neergaard-Petersen will compete individually.
The Cowboys will be without the services of Hovland. The junior, who is currently the top-ranked player in the Golfweek/Sagarin Ranking, will be preparing to take part in next week's PGA Tour stop, the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Hovland earned his third win of the season in the squad's last outing at The Prestige to extend OSU's run of individual medalists on the year. The Cowboys have produced the individual winner in each of their six tournaments thus far.
Live scoring will be available at golfstat.com.
