Cowgirls Sweep MOPs, Win Fourth Straight

HARRINGTON, Del. – The sixth-ranked Oklahoma State equestrian team defeated South Dakota State, 11-5, Saturday at the Delaware State Fairgrounds.
The Cowgirls began their meet against South Dakota State yesterday, when they split both Equitation Over Fences and Horsemanship, 2-2.
Locked at 4-4 after Friday, Saturday started with Equitation on the Flat. OSU swept the event, 4-0, behind Abigail Brayman's MOP honor.
Brayman earned two MOPs against the Jackrabbits, one in Flat and the other in Fences. This was Brayman's first MOP in Flat and fourth in Fences. The sophomore leads the team with five MOPs.
Freshman Kathryn Pelzel and sophomore Katie Schell have both won four-straight points in Flat. Pelzel improved her unbeaten record to 4-0 after defeating Clair Garduno, 76-67.
Hannah Janson completed the sweep of Flat with an 83-75 decision over Jessica Martinez.
The Flat and Reining team have won four-straight events.
OSU's No. 2 Reining team closed the meet with a 3-1 victory over the Jackrabbits' squad. Stephanie Helsen, Hannah Mitchell and Hannah Lovrien scored points for the Cowgirls.
Helsen's 68 garnered her first MOP award of the season. The sophomore has won seven of her past eight matchups.
Team captain Sarah Miller took home Horsemanship MOP honors after tying her season-high 76.5, which she set yesterday against Delaware State.
Next up for the Cowgirls is senior day against Fresno State at 10 a.m. on March 9 in Totusek Arena.
