OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 18 Oklahoma State softball team suffered its second defeat of the weekend to Ole Miss on Sunday, as the Cowgirls were bested by the Rebels, 10-1, in five innings.

Sunday's contest marks the first time OSU (20-7; 0-0 Big 12) has given up double-digit runs since April 15, 2017, when the Cowgirls lost a 10-9 game at Iowa State.

The troubles for the Pokes happened quickly as the first five Rebels reached base, and the first four scored. Ole Miss tallied six runs in total, and batted around, in the first inning, prompting coach Kenny Gajewski into an early pitching change.

The Cowgirls used three pitchers in total Sunday, but none could keep Ole Miss off the board. The Mike Smith-led Rebels followed up their six-spot first inning with one run in the second, two in the third and one last run in the fourth.

Oklahoma State mustered four hits off Ole Miss starter Brittany Finney.

Sydney Pennington supplied the first with a two-out bloop single to left field in the top of the second. It was Pennington's 10th hit over her last six games. In that time, she has hit four home runs, logged two doubles and driven in eight runs.

Michaela Richbourg quickly followed suit, scoring Pennington with an RBI double off the right-field wall. Richbourg came back again in the top of the fifth with a leadoff single, but was left stranded on base for a second time.

Sunday's 2-for-2 showing was the fifth time that the sophomore from Broken Bow, Oklahoma, has recorded multiple hits in a single contest.

Chyenne Factor was the only other Cowgirl to log a hit in the Oxford finale, as she roped a double down the left-field line early in the top of the fourth.

Factor is 18-for-30 at the plate over her last 12 games. She has driven in 18 runs, scored 12 times, and recorded five home runs, doubles and walks during that stretch.

The Cowgirls will continue a 10-game road swing tomorrow night when the visit Memphis. First pitch against the Tigers is set for 5 p.m. CT.
