Cowgirls Comeback Falls Short in Waco

WACO, Texas – The seventh-ranked Oklahoma State equestrian team fell to No. 5 Baylor on the road, 11-8, today at the Willis Family Equestrian Center.
OSU's Horsemanship team collected four of five possible points as team captain Sarah Miller won her fourth consecutive match. The senior edged Marley Mainwaring, 74-73.
Road warrior Harley Huff defeated Katie Davis, 75.5-73, en route to her fourth road victory of the season.
Natalie Alcorn and Maddie Bender also secured Horsemanship points for the Cowgirls. Both tied their season highs with scores of 76 and 75.5, respectively.
In Equitation Over Fences, two Cowgirls set season highs. Katie Schell scored a season-high 86 and defeated Rachael Davis, 86-78. Cassidy Wilbourn's season-high 87 bested Gia Gulino, 87-85.
OSU's Fences team fell by a 3-2 margin, however.
Equitation on the Flat saw Kathryn Pelzel earn her first career point as the freshman defeated Caroline Weaver, 83-80, in her first career start. Baylor ultimately took Flat, 4-1.
The third-ranked Reining team fell 3-1-1 to the Bears. Freshman Hannah Lovrien scored the lone point for OSU.
OSU hosts SMU for its first home meet of the spring season on Feb. 16. The meet starts at 10 a.m. at Totusek Arena.
