Quotes: Oklahoma State vs HoustonÂ
Oklahoma State head coach Mike Boynton
On the way his team responded with today's win:
"We have a lot of things, not necessarily negative, but not going our way the last few games. We haven't quite responded the way I want us to. We play the schedule we play to give us the opportunity to grow."
On Houston making a comeback:
" It was just a matter of time before they made an 8-0 run. We went cold for a stretch or turned it over. Their crowd got into it. They have really good players and terrific coach so I was expecting that. I'm glad our guys responded in a way of putting big shots together at the end of the game."
On going to the rim in crunch time:
"We were trying to pound the ball aside as much as possible. Yor Anei did a tremendous job playing through their double teams to the point where they stopped doubling. Chris Harris made a great cut to the rim on one. Even though we didn't execute every time, we changed the way they wanted to play and opened up things. Cam made a great post score late and Lindy passed it to him in there. I'm just proud of all the guys. Dee Mitchell can't go enough without saying what he has meant to our team and stepping up in the moment. He didn't know he was starting till this morning, he handled it perfectly."
On starting Dee Mitchell:
"I probably decided in my mind on Friday at practice. I kind of ran it by the staff, it's always important to get their feedback. Then I just went it went with. That was gut that we needed a change. He's more of a true point guard than Lindy is. It wasn't anything against Chris, I wanted him to understand that, which is why I talked to him. But once again, it's about Dee about responding to the opportunity and putting us in this position to have success today."
